School leavers and SEND students
Animated film simplifying the options for school leavers with NELEP.
North East LEP supports schools and colleges within the region through their North East Ambition Programme which aims to provide the best possible career guidance for students. Leaving school can be a daunting time, and students were feeling the pressure more than ever following the disruption they had faced during the pandemic. The challenge for North East LEP was to to find a solution where they could distil a lot of complex information for students, whilst using a tone and format that would keep them interested, engaged and be inspired to seek further support and advice.
A truly motivational project that will contribute to the personal and professional growth of the next generations in our region.
One of our superpowers is jargon-busting and powerful engaging story-telling, so we welcomed the challenge of writing a script to creatively highlight the key pieces of information for the range of options available to students. As the North East Ambition was part-funded by the European Social Fund, budgets and timescales were tight. But with our excellent in-house design and animation skills to work alongside our copywriters, we were able to bring clarity and inclusiveness to the final film, enabling many different students at different stages in their development to benefit from the North East LEP services available to them.
For a project like this, excellent communication and efficient project management is the key to success. Through careful planning, we were able to design and build the animation in a way which allowed us to work cost-effectively and adapt the content specifically for Special Education Needs and Disabilities SEND students.
The bright, colourful and playful characters appeal to our teenage audiences and the language and tone of the young, local voiceover was carefully selected to sound like a friend giving advice. We specifically gave this project to one of our youngest team members who was closest in age to the target audience and we’re delighted with the end results.
SEND Students
In this second video, the content was adapted for accessibility using subtitles, whilst also slowing down animation, limiting sound effects and reducing the amount of text graphics on screen. We worked closely with the teams at North East LEP who had also run focus groups to ensure that this important information could be accessed by everyone.
Client feedback on the engagement for the final films was excellent. The videos were shown online, as part of a social media campaign which resulted in reducing bounce rates and getting a high number of students to engage with 100% of the video content.
“We are delighted with the stats from this campaign achieving 14,593 views. Our ambition is to reduce bounce rates and get people to watch as much content as possible and over 1200 people watched the whole video which we think is amazing!“
