North East and proud

The North East has it all – stunning coastlines, picturesque towns, and bustling cities all as featured by major films and TV shows like Harry Potter, Transformers, and Downton Abbey. Our diverse landscapes provide backdrops ranging from ancient to modern, making it ideal for productions of any scale and budget. There are a range of studios in Newcastle and a £450m development down the road in Sunderland, so we can assist with any size of production.

We're proud of our thriving local talent, we ensure quality productions while keeping carbon footprints low. At Prod, we blend regional expertise with international experience to support your project from conception to completion. Let's team up for your next production!

Sustainable production

From script development to transport, we prioritise sustainability. We reduce our environmental impact by calculating and offsetting our carbon footprint for major projects. We also minimise travel emissions by filming locally or remotely and always prefer trains over planes.

On set, we opt for plant-based food and reusable items to lessen waste while also supporting local businesses for wardrobe and props, aiming to reuse and hire whenever possible. All of this means you can be sure your production has as minimal environmental impact as possible.

How we work

Prod is made up of a core team and an extended group of specialised freelancers. Together, we have the right people for every project, every time.

  • With years of experience in the broadcast industry, overseeing creative and presentation teams, I’ve been fortunate to work at ITV, Sky and Chello, working with brands such as CITV, National Geographic, CBS, Extreme Sports and Food Network.

I had a great experience with top design agency Dixon Baxi as Executive Producer for the relaunch of the Premier League in 2015 . After flipping into advertising as a freelancer, I was made Director of Production and Partnerships at Cravens and together we launched Prod in 2020.

I love fast moving, high pressure environments, putting amazing teams together and watching the creative alchemy unfold.

  • With over a decade of experience, I have worked with clients as varied as the BBC, Visa and Fred Perry. Meticulous planning and communication lies at the heart of what we do, whilst finding and amplifying the emotional connection to the audience is at the heart of what we create.

Our recent upgrade of camera kit, include a Sony A7 Mark IV and we have access to green screen and competitive studio rates

I’m a keen illustrator in my spare time as well as being passionate about all things sport, and can regularly be found training in pubs and pizza joints, or in front of a TV watching films I’ve already seen.

  • With a background in design and fine art I completed my BA Animation with the University for Creative Arts and Film where I went on to win North East Filmmaker of the Year.
I love creating informative or family friendly animations and I’m excited by new projects where I can add my own original style with a twist creating my own illustrations and bringing them to life which offers client’s something unique and ownable for their brand.

  • I joined the team from university over five years ago and have never looked back! In that time, I’ve been fortunate to get involved in a massive range of different projects and design styles and have got very proficient at all things adobe as well as C4D.

With my design background, keen interest in branding and love of music and sound, I’ll get immersed in projects at many different levels and love the power of motion in bringing a brilliant idea to life.

  • As a content Producer, I’ve been fortunate to work on some amazing projects with many established brands, including Sage, Parkdean Resorts, Rugby League World Cup and Bet365.. The formative years of my career were spent at a production company before moving on and gaining experience working direct to brand as well as agency side

It’s my job to tackle problems head on, and paired with my relentless pursuit of perfection, I ensure any production is organised and logistically sound. I’m a firm believer that excellent communication is the platform for success in any walk of life, role or industry so this is what I strive for on every project I work on.

Forging amazing relationships and collaborating with extremely talented and creative people every day, is what makes my role feel so special.

  • Anthony is an editor keen to learn his craft with Prod. As part of our production team, he’s already cutting his teeth cutting films together for all kinds of clients from The Rugby League World Cup to Parkdean Resorts.

Meet the
Prod Squad

Alongside our in-house team at Prod we also nurture strong relationships with our extended group of trusted freelance talent,  which we call the ‘Prod Squad’. Experts in their field, these producers, directors, writers, animators and designers have been responsible for some of the most recognisable, awarded-winning and successful campaigns, brand and product launches over the last few years, are based all around the UK and even globally. This enables us to scale up as projects demand to bring on board specialist staff for each stage of a project.

  • The account manager’s job is to liaise between the Prod team and you the client. They will be responsible for all aspects of the relationship, from briefing the creative teams and presenting initial scripts, to making sure you are kept up to date regarding all aspects of the production. They will also use their excellent contacts with outside bodies such as Clearcast to ensure that everything happens on time and on budget.

  • Every script needs words, so bringing the right copywriter on board is essential to any film project. They will use their skills to draught a succinct and carefully plotted script, as well as write any dialogue or voice-over narrative in a style that is spot on for the production. They will also describe each scene in a way that brings it to life for everyone involved in the production.

  • Every project needs a tip-top production manager - someone who will keep a tight grip on the production schedule and budget, as well as managing the day-to-day business side of the production. They are also responsible for negotiating costs with suppliers and hiring the appropriate crew and contractors. At the end of the job, they will reconcile expenses, ensure suppliers get paid and also often oversee the post schedule.

  • As you might imagine, the graphic designer is responsible for the look and feel of the graphic elements of the film. They will develop a series of style frames or storyboards ensuring that the work stands out.

The designer also ensures that the final film properly reflects the brand through use of colour palettes, typography or that the contents of each scene (props, setting, etc.) align with any graphic design language being used.

  • The director is the creative lead on any set, because it is their creative interpretation of the script that dramatises the action on set, in post and on screen (be it silver, television or laptop).

Great directors are able to get the best out of cast and crew to ensure that the film is given the look, the atmosphere, the tempo and the spectacle that it needs to succeed and keep audiences engaged and entertained.

  • This is the person who helps the director to create the look of the film through clever shot choices and camera movement. The DoP oversees the choice of camera kit and lenses ,including things like cranes and rigging ,which help to keep the camera steady. Their lighting will also help set and transform the mood of the scene and appearance of the cast. They sometimes operate the cameras themselves and sometimes oversee a camera operator

  • Once all the scenes that comprise your film are safely ‘in the can’, it’s time for the editor’s work to begin. They will edit together the footage in a way that communicates the story clearly, economically and as dramatically as the script demands. Using their expertise, they will find precisely the right moments to cut o ensure that the film is seamlessly paced and therefore able to draw the viewer along.

  • Animation can offer a wonderful alternative to live action as it often brings a very different kind of feel to a film. It also means that nothing is impossible and that pretty much anything can happen visually. Finding the animator who can deliver precisely the right look and style is therefore crucial - but not to fear, we can call upon a wealth of first-class animators to ensure that your film turns out to be stunning.

  • Sound design can be an underrated element in films and animation. Beyond the obvious emotional resonance of commercial music, clever sound design, use of composers, sound effects and choice of voiceover are all essential ingredients to elevating the creative.

Great sound design will move you, make the film believable, engaging and memorable. We work with some of the best in the business.
